doesn't hurt to prune , actually it should stimulate flowering/fruiting.

I usually prune the leaves that touches the ground and the ones that cast a shadow on the fruit, but I under estimate the amount of growth in the spring and plant them a bit too tight. Especially these as they seem to grow forever. They have a lot of tomatoes so I will have to make salsa later this year!
