Yikes.

So the stream that I am streaming to zap.stream shows up in my Onyx notifications if I go to the notifications.

And then when I went back to the notifications, it was there thrice. and they were autoplaying, so my audience count went up from 1 to 4..

And then I went to notifications again, and it had multiplied some more I think - at least by audience count went up to 12 or 16.

And shit started breaking. Stream saying offline in my web browser session (OBS isn't having any issues, still shows streaming), browser refresh.

zap.stream hasn't been stable at all once the user count gets over about 10. Not sure if that is why, or if it is something else, but it has been really shitty when I promote the stream, the count goes up to 15 or something, and then it goes to shit. I don't know what the others who actually do this for real audiences have observed, might be my crappy tech stack, and I kind of hope so.
