Trying to recommend hardware wallets to someone for an Unchained vault. Coldcard is obvious for one but i'm having a hard time recommending a second.

I know they only support Coldcard/Trezor/Ledger but i really have a difficult time recommending devices from Trezor or Ledger and becoming part of their honeypots.

SeedSigner?

Ledger a big No

Jade is a good open source option

They are not cheap but Foundation has a solid wallet

I don't know. Personally I have a Trezor model T. I don't trust anything with a secure element (coldcard). I use a high entropy bip39 passphrase\password instead.

In a multi-sig setup I don't see why some of your wallets can't be good hot wallets. Blue wallet. Electron wallet. Tails electrum wallet.

What's the probability that someone is going to get you're hardware wallet seed and one of your hot wallet seeds at the same time..๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ˜†

Foundation Passport is actually open source

So you trying multi vendor and don't want double CC?

The obvious choice is to generate seeds offline by picking words out of a thoroughly mixed Entropia set, computing the checksum with an airgapped seedsigner (inside a back seat faraday cage of course), then load this seed into a coldcard, apply long passphrase, incinerate the closed firmware seedsigner before exiting the vehicle, visit unchained.com from a single use Linux laptop, and setup vault key #1.

Repeat x2 for optimal multi vendor unchained setup without funding shitcoining wallet companies.

This is the synthesis of everything I learned listening to Bitcoin Review Pod over the last year. โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Seedsigner is great. Love what they are doing with that project. nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl nostr:npub1tv8gmfhalwnxxquxjzeh6gtdsdz6vg7vx0s3rt7s7uuw6aujh32qn77wn2
