When a human tries to give value unconditionally to another, it inadvertently introduces a burden onto the receiver. Reciprocity is embedded in our consciousness. It's an interesting dynamic I've encountered among Bitcoiners especially. We really don't like feeling like we're in indebted to someone else.

The way around this for me has been value for value.

It allows me to give unconditionally while also allowing for any perceived burden to be settled. Because value is subjective, everyone feels that they got the better end of the exchange.
