When I hear Sarah Pallett, the Labour candidate for Ilam, talk about how every little bit helps...

... I have to ask, does she honestly expect a standing ovation for a bunch of little bits? From a second term Labour government. After 3 years of having a clear majority to govern alone. They barely deserve a slow clap.

On the other hand, you've got to admire her discipline in defending a policy she may not be very impressed by either.

Because what I was impressed by, later in the debate, was the detail Sarah Pallet was able to go into on justice issues. In a very short time too. This is obviously a policy area she knows well, and is very passionate about.

Given all the space opening up in the front bench, she's one to watch as Labour regroups post-election.
