The U.S. government and NATO are now more corrupt and anti-freedom than the Russian Federation. This is something i never expected to see in my lifetime.

It is quite different - at least for now. In Russia there is no private communication since SSL is replaced with gov issued root certs. EU doing the same soon. In USA there are tech companies which keep fighting authoritarian gov efforts. At least it is allowed.
