So true.

When one has been wronged, or witnessed someone being wronged; sometimes their defense mechanism is victim blaming.

Similar to "she died of diabetes complications, she must have not been disciplined enough to eat right and exercise..."

This judgement can come from a desire to criticize without edification, ignorance, or fear.

We all fear something bad happening to ourselves, so we tend to blame the victim.

"She should've kept her mouth shut...

"He shouldn't have run out to the street so fast...

"Maybe they shouldn't have been so flamboyant...

I think this fear we all have sometimes causes us to want to distance ourselves from the person who got hurt. We want to be...uh... u like them, because in a very ignorant or fearful mentality we think that might just keep us from going through the same.

I feel like many of us who are empaths believe there may be a "somewhere" where we could kinda escape this type of thinking.

But I'm guessing it's just anywhere fear itself can go.

😔
