How long will that be the case when Meta and X make the switch?

I like Damus and a bunch of other platforms. It remindsmwe of the early days of MySpace and Facebook. I was one of the first few million Facebook users. Way before any of my normie friends. It was just like this. Possibilities were endless and everyone had amazojg outlooksofn the future. Then the normies came in with their demands.

I mean how are relay hosts dealing with children data protection? I bet most haven't even bothered investing much in to it since most of us are most likely over 25. But Meta and X already have all the protections in place for children

I don’t think meta or X will switch to the nostr protocol. These companies want to have total control over user data. That’s impossible on nostr. The user has the control.

And I don’t think nostr is for children

Are you for real? They control their relays. They control what happens on their relays. They never give up control for a second. No relay provider does. Any of them can shadow ban you at any time. Just because you can. post somewhere else doesn't effect them

You can be shadowbanned? Nah You can run your own relay. Move to other relays. The portability is key here.

That's my whole point. They can shadow ban you on their own relays. That is all that matters to them

I disagree. You can say whatever you want about politicians, covid, masks, etc… On legacy social media you get banned for saying the C word (covid). Not here. Not sure what you’re referring to

I can easily host a relay that I can ban you from.....

That’s great. I’ll keep using the ones I’m on now 😂

And how do they protect a childs data? If they can't they can expect a strongly worded letter in the mail from a 3 letter agency

Take a look at global. This is not for children

What is stopping them from using it? If you don't think this is for children and nothing is stopping them from using your relay you can expect a strongly worded letter from a three letter agency

What’s to stop a kid from smoking a cigarette? Or trying drugs? Doesn’t mean it’s for them. Same idea here

Not according to COPPA
