delightfully ironic how the app that was invented to let women violate the privacy of men en masse went to market with zero consideration for user privacy...and instantly pwned all the women who rushed to use it

Was that the idea? "Spill the tea" type of thing? Wasn't clear from the 15 seconds of reading I did what exactly the app was doing differently. Only gathered it had some extra reporting functionality or something

i think the idea was to dish on your date to a massive public group. share DMs, pictures, stories, etc. what could possibly go wrong?

i'm long off the market but if i was dating someone and they shared any of my info like this that would be an insta dump.

if these folks give less than zero consideration to their own privacy and security, how much consideration are they giving to the person across the table? not a good look...

Ah ok, so "spill the tea" is what they were alluding to with name/image. Damn. To wind up on 4chan too, lol

yeah the app name reminds me of the sip tea meme where the "normies" eavesdrop on other people's unhinged behavior.

i guess the silver lining is now there's an easy database for dudes to check to eliminate future security vulnerabilities

more seriously, though. if you're looking for a date in the year 2025 maybe look for an offline partner 😬

amish folks dress well. just sayin'...

got pwned once it reached the top of the app store. they operated like this for ~2 years

" The app, called Tea, has surged to the No. 1 spot on the US Apple App Store. It launched in 2023 and has been rapidly ascending the charts in the past few weeks. "

Wow this dumpster fire went on for 2 years? Fucking yikes.

Amazing how strict apple review is when you want to tip 21 sats but they let this disaster go on for 2 years...

Vibe coding was barely a thing 2 years ago. Probably means a human decided to load all the kyc data in an unprotected cloud datastore.

just... wow

speechless...
