Talk to me about the 45acp glocks. I have been a 1911 guy since 1988 when I got my first handgun for high school graduation from my dad. Since then I've been all over the place, but always loved the 45 well because why not?

In most of the 90's it was wheel guns for me, it wasn't until 2008 election of Barry and Michael Obama did I get into the high capacity auto loaders. Had never been a Glock (plastic gun) fan. But I wanted them because I thought for sure they would be banned... Little did we know right?

Anyhow, I got an XD 45 first, then saw the price of 9mm vs 45 and picked up a Glock 17... Still carrying wheel guns on a regular basis. Once I became comfortable with autos I decided to get a Glock 26 (this was before the subcompact craze started) and the 26 was about the only choice.

I'm 100% comfortable carrying 9mm with modern defensive ammo. But.... This is the 45 part...

Ruger just released the PCC 45 (pistol caliber carbine in 45acp)

I've never shot any gun in doors let alone 9mm or 5.56 from an AR, but as an older person with hearing loss I feel it would be very detrimental.

Secondly my wife has trouble with everything, even 380 which is her gun. So I got to thinking of this new Ruger as a home defense gun. It comes with a threaded barrel and since 45 is already subsonic I think would be the perfect home defense rifle??

Bringing it back to Glock... Well this new ruger uses glock 21 mags... I like guns with inter changing mags (my 26 can use glock 15 and 17 mags)

So now I'm thinking we should run 45 acp in glocks across the board. The glock 17 sits in the nightstand, but I could see changing that out to the 21 and get a threaded barrel and suppressor for it and have the Ruger for her with a suppressor. I think she could handle a rifle in 45 pretty good. And then use the glock 30 as a edc, especially since I could use the larger mags as well as a reload like I do currently with the 26.

I know we don't need an excuse to get more guns, but this new setup (PCC + glock 21 + glock 30) sounds bad ass.

Way better support and proven design in 9mm for PCC. Noise isn’t that different, get a suppressor (if you want) or the fancy headphones that cancel out gunshots (their cheap now and work really well). Shooting a 45 in a house with no ear pro is going to shake you up the same as 9mm, pretty much. 9 gives you more tries and less recoil. In my experience, people like the 45 because it feels better or something. Many people like that have only shot 45 out of a metal frame handgun and 9 out of a polymer handgun. Wonder why they think the 9 is snappy.

You’ll make the right decision for yourself, but I think 9 has the best available PCCs and the noise isn’t a factor. Just my opinion.
