A trip to Zanzibar will open you up to the colorful world of tropical fruits. They say pineapples are the sweetest in the world and avocados are huge! It is also home to the durian, the controversial king of fruits that are famous for smelling like hell but tasting like heaven.

🥥 Coconuts are the main fruit in Zanzibar because they are the basis of many national dishes. The same rice is eaten with them, meat is stewed in coconut milk, and added to soups. Raw coconuts, of course, are also eaten: both juice and pulp.

🥭 honey mangoes are not even close to the ones we are used to eating. It feels like they are completely different species. They are so sweet and juicy here. By the way, keep in mind that Tanzanian mangoes are very filling: if you eat two, consider yourself full.

🍍Don't forget to try local pineapples. Here, these juicy and strong fruits with the bright color of their pulp can easily compete with the golden African sun. Our advice is to take yellow pineapples, because... they are the most delicious and ripe. In addition to the usual pineapples and mangoes, there will be many more strange fruits on the shelves.

Be sure to try rambutan, butter apple, breadfruit and carom. Their taste is pleasant and unusual, it’s difficult to compare it with anything 🤤

Among the most perfect exotics, we recommend the fruits of the baobab. Outwardly, they look like large nuts 🌰 And inside, the sour seeds are the richest source of vitamin C.

There is absolutely nowhere in Zanzibar without bananas. They are cheap but taste good. For something exotic, be sure to try the national delicacy – fried bananas with spices. Tastes a little like sweet potatoes. Unusual combination 🤩

♻️The environment on the island has been closely monitored lately. So you can safely eat both vegetables and fruits in large quantities. No preservatives, no chemicals. Only pure natural taste.
