Is that for food? Do you have a link? I'm trying to get info like "this is a toaster" lol

Barcodes don't hold that kind of info. Only if you have the database that they assign the products to the numbers represent. Manufacturers just have product numbers related to their inventory.

Barcode says:

Product A = 123456789

Product B = 123456780

To know what product A or B is, you have to have that specific company's inventory list.

On the amazon app, I used to be able to scan a product in a store and then see it on amazon. So I'm not entirely sure that's true.

If that product is sold by Amazon, they would have it in their database. The number is the same. My point was that there is no central database of every manufacturer SKU system.

Then how did I just download this

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.atharok.barcodescanner

And it new the title of the book I was scanning?

That app says it was from the open library. The fact that this app was able to get the most random thing that happened to be next to me means it's possible.

Yeah, OK. Ignore me. I'm too focused on counting calories.
