Really it’s one of the first rules of life. Do not care what others think of you. They are simply judging you through their own biases. Be respectful but also don’t give a fuck.

Caring about what others think can guide us when it comes from those who truly matter—mentors and important people in our lives—because their insights often carry wisdom, experience, or genuine concern. Discernment lets you filter out the noise from everyone else, keeping your focus on feedback that actually helps you grow or align with your values. It’s not about ignoring all opinions; it’s about knowing whose input deserves weight and why.

Agree. I was focusing on the naysayers and negative nanny’s out there. Not those with actual wisdom. However, if you care too much what anyone thinks it can very often stymie who you are as a person. What makes you, you. Listen to too much criticism and you will lose your confidence and focus. There is crossover here between listening to actual wisdom and listening to those who derive their “wisdom” based on envy, jealousy, and out-of-date advice. It’s why I added be respectful.
