Brassica is a genus of plants in the mustard family. It includes many commonly eaten vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and turnips.
Brassica’s (Brassicaceae) host the caterpillars of the white butterflies (Pieris).
In early May I found a cabbage white butterfly egg on the broccoli leaf. I hadn’t look closely at the kale but it has a caterpillar as well.
