I'll have a go now....
It’s got 2 word lists 1 is the last 2500 words from NYT and the other is about 17,000 words that are all 5 letters.
We could generate the word from the longer list for hard mode but when I tried that those words made no sense!
I think hard mode is to do with placement rules rather than the word itself eg you must use a letter that was correct from the previous turn.

All correctly placed letters, must be placed correctly in next turn, all correct letters (But in the wrong place) must also be used in the following turn. It might be anathema but some people ( nostr:nprofile1qqsd9pqnwyshrse7z975h5ynptq9ktz3kv8txqs7lr20zgelqtys52cpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9nhwden5te0dehhxarjv4kxjar9wvhx7un89uq3zamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wwa5kuef0yqwdjn ) actually circumvent this, in order to more quickly guess the correct word, when there appear to be multiple options. Hard mode, negates this🙏🏻.
