It's stock Android with Google services removed and sandboxed. 💪

how is it different from e foundation?

https://e.foundation/

graphene is more security focused, not only privacy. app sandboxing and much other stuff to secure the phone/data from unwanted access

Never heard of this before. GrapheneOS has been around for a while and known well throughout the Android ROM community.

Needs NFC tho ASAP (not even tho it might not be possible). Massively disappointed this goes away on Graphene

Yeah it's a big sacrifice

GrapheneOS has NFC support

Wait what? None of my NFC apps work

I use graphene on a pixel 6a and used it on a pixel 4 and my nfc tags work fine, there are just some sacrifices on nfc payments (no google pay), but even these seem to work with other apps (i heard huawei pay app should work)

I guess all the apps I was trying to use are using gpay under the hood

Possible, read somewhere that most payment apps need some google stuff which cant be provided with the sandboxed services. But normal apps utilizing nfc like for nfc tags should work fine.

This is the correct answer.

Are most POS systems with tap to pay enabled for Huawei? I’m sure they can do GPay & ApplePay, wasn’t sure about this tho. Can give it a shot

No clue, never tried it

/e/ is a European attempt to build an AOSP that doesn't depend on Google.

GrapheneOS is an attempt to make a very security hardened version of AOSP.

Yes but there are tradeoffs, it's not as smooth as just running stock android.

But your phone doesn't spy on you. So it's worth it.

Pixel phones only right?

Yep
