Software isn't perfect and probably never will be. Devs can and will do mistakes both now and in the future. There is always a big risk when opening a service to the entire internet (world), especially when it has to do with money.
It just sucks that it's often the nice folks actually caring about providing some kind of helpful service that gets burned every time.
