Nostr is the number one use case for Lightning at the moment. The crypto crowd is relentlessly pushing their “faster blockchain” message to promote their token du jour, and there hasn’t been a lot of pushback on that yet. This means we have to be the ones to educate others about Lightning.
It’s not enough to just talk about bitcoin, because the world will never be able to transact on-chain for everyday payments. Lightning is the killer app, but it still gets overlooked like a curious novelty.
I don't think it's the number one use case for the lightning network. But I agree with you on what you're saying a little bit. Lol.. I just disagree a little bit on the 1st part because the lightning network was here way before nostr and there's on the lightning network more than nostr.. And a majority of those people have no idea nostr exist but use the lightning network faithfully everyday.
I'd say that the use of lightning in V4V microtransactions is the number one onboarding ramp for nocoiners.
And with both Twitter and Meta charging for a tick, not only do we give those away, but you get paid and pay others for liking each other's content without any middleman taking a cut.
Explain it in those terms and even the noest of nocoiners will see the value.

And because it's a flexible open protocol you can literally do whatever you want with it! Someone can integrate Nostr into PeerTube and Invidious. Someone can make a TikTok clone with zaps.
It's gonna change the creator economy and remove control from large corporations exactly how Bitcoin intended.

I zapped one of their posts and they saw the sats drop straight into the wallet.

I agree but lightning as a node operator is not ok. I need to pay in front (open inbound channels) and to pay, I need to open an outbound channel to be be to sent.
I want lightning ⚡ to be easy for node operators like if I have 1k sats in my lightning wallet, I wanted it to be able yo send at least 999 sats out and to be able receive any amount sender has sent to my wallet.
