I think you should interview nostr:nprofile1qqsth5k6rwr35mhxmtfplrcgxmalpkezyjltmeqpj7u8x00wr87xynspzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsz9thwden5te0v4jx2m3wdehhxarj9ekxzmnyqy38wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdajx2un4dehx2unndejhgam0wf4jucm0d5pgs9cq again, so she can tell her side of the story.

That is the bitcoiner way, not this hearsay bs and character murder main stream media characterization.

I'm not saying she did not make any mistakes, she did and she is can be very honest about her own mistakes and be very forthcoming.

Questioning her intentions as vad and manipulative and calling her a liar without her being able to defend her position is totally wrong and immoral.

There is nuance to this story you have missed, question is are you human enough to give her that chance.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ralphie. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening for a number of reasons, some of which I can’t disclose.

Maya is free to express whatever she’d like. I won’t be taking part in that conversation, though, as I will no longer be covering this story.

She’s also welcome to contact our editors and publish a piece countering what I and others wrote.

So let me get this straight, you were brave enough to publish that story publicly, without hesitation. Which is now being citated everywhere around Suriname.

But not brave enough to let her tell her side in open dialog. Don't tell me it's better for her own sake.

Just do a web call with her in private for god sake and revaluate your choices.

This kind of stuff can haunt you down. Totally unnecessary imo.

I'm not protecting her because she is my friend, but because I think that is how grown-ups should come together.

I appreciate your reaction, and I'm aware I can also be wrong in my assessment here because I may not have all the information as well.

This whole theater frustrated the hell out of me. Her vision for the country is truly inspiring, but suddenly that does not matter appaerantly.

Truth is, many people around her screwed her over, took advantage of her trustfulness, or were truly incompetent and that is also part of the reason local bitcoiners they did not want to talk about Maya, because she told them in their face if they dropped the ball which may not be the best way to deal with things but she also has a low tolerance for people not taking responsibility. So there is more to this story.

She is still young and has a whole life in front of her. Don't be that guy. You can do better.

Hey Ralphie,

Let me assure you that you don’t have it straight. And I’d imagine you are protecting her because she is your friend.

Her voice is in the piece. I sent her questions about the most serious allegations so that she could respond to them.

Why don’t you schedule a web call with her and have her tell the story?

She’s more than welcome to go through the piece to respond to what I got wrong - according to her - point by point.

I get it. People sometimes get overly emotional about stuff, especially when they are passionate about that thing.

That is what happened here as well for the most part imo.

But, in the end everyone has to take responsibility for their own actions, including Maya.

The problem is the medium here. Open dialog creates clarity, writing creates distance and distortions because it allows for too much interpretation.

And everyone has multiple sides to them, and under enough pressure and trauma, that side becomes dominant pretty easily.

It's a tragedy and a self made tragedy at the same time.

Nah, son, you don’t get it and I’d appreciate if you stop pretending you do.

Frank,

I’ve taken some time to reflect before replying, because I truly don’t understand the level of anger you continue to carry, or how, despite years of verifiable work and an abundance of public evidence, you remain convinced by Shamay’s version of events.

I understand healthy skepticism. But you’ve seen the same proof everyone else has. The public ledger of how funds have been used has been shared repeatedly since last October:

The @BitcoinSranan X account alone documents two years of continuous grassroots progress. Samuel Kullman, a respected Swiss parlementarian, publicly shared his firsthand account of the event with Kruse, directly contradicting the narrative you’ve chosen to amplify.

Yet you chose to post only the last few transactions I sent you, not the full, transparent tracker. As a journalist, you know how that can distort a story. You also implied, without evidence, that companies like Newmont are involved in money laundering. That accusation carries weight, and consequences. I wonder if they’re even aware of what you have accused them of.

I’ve spoken in multiple national interviews here in Suriname, on the record, and refuted the claims circulating. I’ve also made it clear that if I were “controlled opposition,” I wouldn’t need crowdfunding or community-funded security. That’s not how this works.

Frank, I want you to know this isn’t written in anger. I don’t wish to discredit you. But I am disappointed. You asked questions, and I answered them all. I’ve never hidden. I’ve only kept working. And while I respect your work, I also ask you to reflect on whether you’ve truly honored the journalistic principles you represent.

Ralphie, by contrast, has shown grace, depth, and a sincere desire to understand. He knows more than most and asks better questions. Speaking down to him won’t change that.

You joined X in 2018. I’ve been in the Bitcoin space long before that. If I wanted to scam anyone, it would’ve been far easier to launch a shitcoin, mint NFTs, or fundraise behind some hollow token. But I didn’t. Because that’s not who I am. That’s not what I’m here for.

Ironically, some of the biggest scams of this cycle came from those closest to the people now pointing fingers. Including a sitting president whom launched an NFT and shitcoin platform. And let’s not forget: Bitcoin Magazine was co-founded by Vitalik. Some echoes still remain.

In any case, I regret that this has unfolded the way it has. I wish you peace and clarity. We’ll be reaching out to your editors to present the full picture, and over the next week, we’ll continue sharing more, openly and transparently, as we’ve done since the start.

With respect,

Maya

Let me know if you’d like a shorter version for email or social media.

I’m not angry. I just don’t have time for people who don’t know the full situation telling me they “get it.”

Email works.

Please send me anything you didn’t send when I first asked you for such documents/info.

I can’t guarantee I can publish what you send as it will have to go through our legal team first, but, if you send me evidence that counters something I wrote and the legal team deems it legitimate, I’ll be happy to publish it.
