Japan is building the world’s fastest train—the Chuo Shinkansen Maglev—which will reach 603 km/h using magnetic levitation.

This groundbreaking technology eliminates track friction and will slash travel time between Tokyo and Nagoya to just 40 minutes (currently 97 minutes).

Despite delays, the first segment is expected to launch by 2034, with future expansion to Osaka by 2037.

Using magnetic levitation, this train will be faster than anything China has, despite claims in some misleading propaganda. China’s maglevs may be fast, but Japan still holds the world speed record in test runs.

I enjoyed riding the Shinkansen. It was fast even now.

I first rode it in 1999. It was unbelievably fast then. Japanese train engineering is the best in the world still to this day.

Awesome, i rode 2006!
