Are these the final years of the internet as we know it?

I feel more and more the urge to remove all my tech/gadget devices. The urge to disconnect from all this inflow of mostly useless information. I just want to stay in the countryside, focus on living a simple life, and have real human interactions, etc.

Now, with AI, the ways they'll try to steal our time or manipulate us in ways never seen before will be so massive, in my opinion, that the best thing is to opt out before your brain gets messed up by it 😅.

So, living in the real world, no daily internet, no news, etc. - only focusing on real stuff - feels like the next move, somehow.

What do you think/feel?

you describe it perfectly ... i feel very similar .... I actually only use "the news" for entertainment now

Yeah, I only get the news by memes

on nostr (against my will, would prefer no non btc related stuff in my feed). Also my mind shifts more and more to this kind of NOW mindset because of ai etc. Example I

have some random thought about xyz and immediately there is the urge to find out the answer in the internet etc. Same as everyone maybe know with cliffhangers imagine this crap with ai, tailored series etc. for your taste. I don't want to waste more time with a screen in front of my face that I know for sure. We need to build citadels for real if I would live surrounded by likeminded people like here irl I would not touch the internet at all for useless information collection. Only for real stuff like you used to use to library. Wanna know how to plant xyz get the knowledge and finish etc.

Dead internet theory is a reality unfortunately.

Back to IRL we go.

Yeah, I’m increasingly leaning this direction, myself. I’ve been an ardent adopter of communications technology, but I guess I’ve finally reached that point where it’s no longer benefitting me as much as just peace and quiet and disconnection from the greater world.

Really just want to focus on my immediate surroundings.

I think we’re missing community. It doesn’t exist when it’s basically the whole world.

Yes, exactly on point 💯

Nothing wrong with touching grass, but we can fight back. nostr:nprofile1qqsd0kqsnmjrv47wvpt2mfr9xqrthdjp7v09p6zjgd5pcfey2puprmqppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qythwumn8ghj7urpw3jhytnwdaehgu339e3k7mf0qyfhwumn8ghj7ur4wfcxcetsv9njuetn9ucut0gy will help. AI, governments, surveillance capitalism and media are all the beneficiaries of free information we produce. If we starve them by encrypting information behind a price in sats, we can accomplish many good things at once.

If I could go away from everyone with Digit and stay offline together for years I might do it

But voices are needed against genocide and stuff right now too

This woman won’t even talk to you and you made your handle a profession of love for her. Pretty sure you don’t have to worry about running away with her. You’re a creep.

Yep these are the days to be building our physical libraries and real life relationships.

The key to using the internet will be discernment in where incoming info is coming from. Our tech and info intakes have to be on point, so we don't ever eat from a centralized algo "feed"

Yes.

Opted out of most of it.

Farming and homeschooling in a small village. Building for Nostr because it's the only thing I can still meaningfully use.

Exactly where I want to be when the next mind control crisis hits.

Congrats 💪

As someone who grows up with internet. I can't do it really.

I've built everything upon this. My skills, my job, my friends, my goals. It's all internet ans web.

And you have to learn how to properly use the technology. It's useful. If someone is losing by using internet, they are using it wrong.

You’re not alone The more tech evolves, the more I crave disconnection Simplicity and presence feel like rebellion now and maybe that’s exactly what we need
