Technically God thru Paul gives the "choice" between reconciliation or remaining unmarried. Question is whether "remain unmarried" is an option I can willingly choose if my spouse later wants to reconcile.

Perhaps Hosea is the example to emulate given the love Jesus commands us to have:

John 15:9-14: "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you."

Just curious, are you egalitarian?

On the topic of forgiveness and reconciliation in marriage, God seems to treat men and women similarly:

Mar 10:11-12: "And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery."

Are you certain about that? What would the Bible need to say to convince you that there was a difference between men and women in this regard?

Some say men can have multiple wives but not vice versa. This would conflict with a man having "his own" wife and he being "her own" husband.

1Cor 7:2-3: "Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband."

That didn't answer my question.

Certainly men and women have different roles. What does the Bible say that indicates different requirements for husbands and wives with regard to forgiveness and reconciliation?

Eph 5:22: "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord."

Eph 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"
