Completed nearly a 2 year study of RoQ with Shiekh to round out 2025. Will likely have to decompress for a bit to get my thoughts together but this is absolutely one of the most significant books of the past century, maybe even the past millennium. Considering it has predictions that are due in the next few years I suspect many more will be reading this looking for guidance. I can't say enough how this book must be read with a teacher. There are just too many references that Guenon pulls in that the likelihood you'll catch everything on your own even on a second or third reading is unlikely. Could be worth just putting together something that consolidates all of these for students but if my notes are correct there were over 200 sources sited that Guenon pulled from that were at best only indirectly referenced in his own footnotes.
I would like to note that there are many haters of Guenon. However, please remember he was not only a brilliant metaphysician but also a convert to Islam ('Abd al-Wahid Yahya). He migrated to Egypt where he married and had a family, was a devoted student of Islam, and preferred zuhd when European visitors came looking for him. It is unfortunate that some of his top students deviated and likely fell into the zero sum game of pseudo-initiation he warned so much about. The biggest mistake I see from folks reading Guenon is doing so in light of those deviations. Guenon must be understood on his own. He is difficult to read (especially in translation) but worth all the effort you put into it. #bookstr
