If value for value #v4v is legit, then the content creator is acting out of need to create, and zapping is a personal reaction.

The way zaps are displayed and promoted, v4v is in danger of being a jumping on the bandwagon gimmick.

Seeing a mega sats count for a post puts me off zapping. The post has been validated, well done, moving on.

I get the validation value of seeing a high paid post, so I'm not dissing the concept of zapping, but displaying how many #sats are received for a post is rather vulgar, nouveau riche.

Why not display number of zaps and not the value? This also adds to #privacy

Contrarían view from someone finding their way.

I agree with you and if it were up to me I would completely remove likes and sats amount, and only display the number of zaps.

The likes are dopamine shitcoin, and the amount of sats received adds nothing to the value of the content.

Have a boost and a zap :) Last couple of days been feeling like a crazy person, out of step with a few things that seem to be accepted as normal. You have put my mind at rest that there is at least one other person questioning the zap approach. Thanks!

Thanks!

However, I am of the opinion that Nostr being a free place, it should also be able to accommodate those who need to count sats and useless likes.

Make zap and like displays an option not a default from on high

I prefer a repost to a like, and a nice comment is sometimes more valuable than a zap.

This is how you know we are early for nostr. It'll be very easy to weight your own personal algo and feed like this in a couple years I bet. Too much low hanging fruit in other areas to nitpick like this

Go even further. The number can be off putting too. Make it only display zaps as "a few" / "medium zappage" / "holy zapparoni" and color code the text. Also why TF is zapping not always anonymous by default?

you know why zapping is not default anon lol

i probably should make mine anon but i rarely send much to anyone, just sometimes someone really puts some serious jazz into my world and i drop a 10k+ on them as a thanks

idk whether it's good or bad to make that public, it probably would be better if it was only visible to the recipient

So a burner nostr account for zapping would overcome one side of the privacy issue.

There’s definitely an argument to be made that displaying #zap values on notes isn’t that different from a Venmo feed of “blue checks” signaling that they are paying each other. Actually, even on Venmo the dollar amount is kept private. Food for thought 💭
