one thing i learned from the software dev community is that the important thing isn't to have ideas but to ship ideas

open source in particular has an ethos of "don't worry who gets credit, just help" which i particularly love

do stuff. finish that project and put it into the world, even if it's small. accumulate a portfolio of things done, not ideas had.

Sounds like a slave to someone other's ideas. Being a slave is ok, if you make a living and have no idea. But being free means that you have to have your own idea, which to follow and finish.

i'm talking about shipping your own ideas. like, taking action on your ideas instead of just thinking them up and stopping there.

Exactly, THAT is the way. Dreamers can dream, doers make the world spin around.
