Funny to see the attention nostr gets compared to mastodon which existed for years and nobody really used it

the main difference for me, signing up just now was that i did not have to pick an instance. makes it easier to get started and does not create a dependency to the instance maintainer. unless you host your own instance, which i tried and failed - at the smtp step... nostr excites me more than mastodon, so i understand the general excitement :D
