i still dont know whats going on but i fully agree!

Really short version:

1 Bitcoin = 1.00000000

1 Sat = 0.00000001 Bitcoin

1 Bit = 100 Sats, 0.000001 Bitcoin

We’re in the middle of a cyclically repeating fight about what to call sats, whether to use bits at all, and if we should all just throw our hands up in the air and call it all bitcoin.

I am more enlightened than I thought...

You missed the part about moving decimal points to do away with 21 million

More or less what I meant by that last bit. Still falls under the umbrella of the meme.

I could literally give a shit less… we didn’t even call them sats until like 2020 if I remember correctly maybe 2019 idk

I’d definitely heard the term as early as 2017 and it was coined before then, but it didn’t really rise into popularity until the lightning network was starting to grow and the price had risen enough for the smallest units to be anything but dust.

Yeah I guess that would make sense! I didn’t really start using lightning until 2019ish (strike for me) and my friends that taught me bitcoin still don’t call them sats 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t think it’s really a big deal for people that use bitcoin a lot but I guess it makes sense for onboarding idk

Why does someone need to tell us what the denomination is called? It’s so weird.
