Is it weird that a married couple lives with their parents still?

Granted the house is 40 000sq feet?

It’s just ridiculously expensive to buy a house here on a normal salary.. family is very close..

We have been asked to stay because the parents enjoy having us around

Not weird at all. It’s how everyone lived in the past. Usually have 3 generations in the home. Society has just made you think it’s not normal…

It’s great! Grandparents can take care of the young kids while the middle generation works hard and earns income. Kids are well taking care of, grandparents are taken care of by all of the younger/middle generations as a team as they age, the family unit is well taken care of, the home is well taken care of, the list goes on and on.

Sorry, I will get off my soapbox now, but I just do not want you to feel weird about this at all because it is a giant blessing. Enjoy the time you have with family as long as you possibly can and don’t let the world take it away from you.

Now this is someone who agrees with me.. so myself and wife live in our own little cottage about 50M away from the main house..

Food is cooked in the kitchen in the main house and dinner together every night..

It’s my wife’s family as mine is scattered around the world so it’s awesome being accepted into a new family..

It happened by absolute chance.. 2019 I messaged her after 7 years of not talking and then I had a operation and my parents left to the USA and needed a place to recover and be helped and I never left.. now we married and loving it! Many people look at me and say it’s weird.. but fuck them..

I also don’t have any debt and massive monthly overheads which allows me to stack with what I have left..

I agree - unfortunately egos get in the way especially if the kids chose the wrong partner who things they better than the parents..

I’m incredibly privileged to be able to have this! Also I get along so well with my parents in law…
