I have a thought for your day:

Question of one of my students today: "But isn't laissez-fair impossible? If people are allowed to do what they want everything will break. People are corrupt, have no morals and lie. Don't we need the Government to prevent that?"

That's a typical question I get so many times.

If you assume the worst from the people why do you think the Gov. i.e. People in power are any better?

I always reply: Would you betray your friends and your family and harm them on purpose?

The kids will usually deny

Then I ask: If you would have the power over the students of another class here at our school, would you misuse your power?

1/3 of the students say yes or maybe. But a clear no is rare.

As long as we seek for Gov to be bigger than the community we live in power will always corrupt. And the things the kids fear, what free men could d, is real for the people in power, who don't even know, that we in our small town school even exist.

Teach them the real world not the bullshit of our school system. The gov is not the solution.
