From 1913, the Federal Reserve Note has lost over 97% of it's value. I always like that story of the time capsule from around 1918s, when gold was pegged at $35. So an ounce of gold priced at $35 and $35 single Federal Reserve Notes were locked away and burried.. Saturday, the time capsule was opened. So whadya got?  You have $35 single dollars, and $1985.00 dollars worth of gold. You think the dollars'll buy you today what they bought in 1918? Not even close.
