Agreed. Keeping people in your life, outside of family and close friends, that make your life harder is a burden you don't need.

Beware of first impressions, though. Some people need some time to figure out, and are worth having around once you do. Also, take the time and energy to get to know them. It's easy to put the the burden of proof all on them.
