Today is Janmashtami (জন্মাষ্টমী)। A festival that celebrates the birth of lord Krishna. It is a custom for the hindus to make Taaler Bora on this day. Which is a type of fritter using mainly the pulp of ripe palm fruit and other ingredients like flour, jaggery, banana etc. All mixed into a batter and put into oil to deep fry. Attached is a shot of some amazing Taaler Bora made by my mother. 🌼 #foodstr #grownostr

Have a wonderful celebration.

Thank you so much! 💜💜

These look delicious! 😋

I wish you could try first hand! These are INSANE! 🥹💜

Is that Bengali? There are a few places in my area that might make those, but no chance they’re as good as the homemade ones your mom makes. 🤩

It is, yes, a Bengali tradition. I've actually found you from a comment where you were talking about the country and "My Architect" documentary. I really appreciated how you’d stayed very respectful and not at all in a patronizing way to the whole topic. Believe it or not it’s hard to find. 🤦🏾‍♀️

That docu has been on my to-watch list for a longgg time. I guess I just HAVE TO watch it now! 😄💜

I love that part of the world and hope to have another chance to visit and experience more if its magic.

This is a much younger me traveling with a friend in southern India a decade ago. The people, the food, the culture…just wonderful.

What a beautiful photo! Full of life and colors! Southern India has its own magic. It is so rich in culture. I myself wish to visit there someday.

And please do come when you get a chance. Come to Bangladesh. I will happily be your travelling guide and companion. 🥹🤗
