Blows my mind that I-40 has been shut down for 4 months at the TN-NC border due to damage from Hurricane Helene.
Current ETA will bring it back online at 5+ months after the storm. 5 months to rebuild 1 mile of one of the most important highways in the country....
Without government, who would build the roads! As you can see, they're very efficient.
Sorry North Carolinians. They were busy rebuilding Gaza after giving Isreal free bombs to flatten it.

When you cut into a mountain, and the lower part washes away, it takes time to fix. Also,

Many such cases...on the exact same stretch of road.
If they're saying 5 months, expect 2 years. Road work is one of the biggest grifts in the country.
