In nostr, a user is the private key you hold yourself so it’s not possible to «delete» a user. When it comes to notes, relay operators can delete whatever they want, whenever they want. All events are simply stored in a database that the relay operator have full control over.

i’m assuming nostr/client devs must have discussed something like filtering on the client side, etc righttt? or…

Yeah. They can automate the filtering

Yeah, people are exploring how to best do this. E.g. Damus will blur images if they come from a pubkey you or your followers don’t follow IIRC. I’ve seen several other clients applying some kind of filtering in the client as well but don’t remember which ones.

Relay operators can also blacklist/whitelist pubkeys, ban IPs in the FW etc. All this stuff is currently being explored and tested out.

Nice, thanks for reputable summary!!

respoted cuz it’s important

The best way to build these protections is as they start happening, instead of building for predictions. Which is why it’s good if Nostr doesn’t explode with new users just yet.

Yea, today was my first time witnessing troll with nudity etc 🤦‍♂️

sample account (sarah.p):

It’s an interesting example because it’s the profile pic, not event media that’s explicit. And to default to blurring profile pics seems like the wrong approach.

Maybe some cost function is needed to unlock a profile pic. Or a sensitive content voting flag. I don’t know.

A somewhat easy temporary “fix” could be to let users toggle blurred pfp for people they don’t follow. At least until we get better solutions for such problems.
