Which version of the MacBook would you recommend for a designer?

I know the M4 and M3 chip is more expensive than the others.

Which one are you using right now?

I’m on a maxxed out M2 with 24GB RAM right now. Never let me down in almost 2 1/2 years and I prefer to it the M4 MBP I had at my last employer. Doing local devops/software engineering/local LLM stuff on it. Some containers, VMs, minor graphical touchups.

Paid ~2200EUR for it with AppleCare. You can get a used one (starting at 512GB storage) for 1000EUR now. M3 really isn’t worth it. The M4 are quite powerful (+2 efficiency/performance cores) and you get proper Thunderbolt 4 support to run more than 1 external display.

What is your opinion about Air M2? For me display 15' inch is important

Its an M2 13" with 8 cores, 512GB SSD, 24GB RAM.

If you'll handle 4k video in the future, the Airs might throttle due to lack of active cooling.

Making video is not an option for me. First of all I want to replace my old laptop that I create design and work Adobe well

None. Use Linux (or BSD) for everything!
