Normal human hierarchy is fluid and voluntary. Today I follow you because we are doing a thing I think you are best at. Tomorrow we do the thing I'm the best at and you follow me. No coercion either time. Just natural self interest to get the jobs done well and easily.

I agree the more fluid and the greater choices of leadership is ideal, but people in power rarely relinquish that power. I would view supporting monarchy as people thinking hierarchies are necessary and picking the government with the greatest skin in the game

A government officials skin in the game isn't a function of the type of government. It is a function of how seriously the population chooses to keep them in line.
