If CBDCs are the end goal of fiat, it’s as good as certain that you won’t be able to buy Bitcoin with them. Before that, in the death roll there will be controls and bitcoin on-ramps will disappear.

Having all the services available in bitcoin by then would be great but it’s unrealistic, particularly as this is going to be global so some places will have coverage and others won’t.

Having a nostr economy going where the butcher can connect to a local relay and sell his meat for Bitcoin, or the candlestick maker can join The Silk Node and sell wares on a global Bitcoin marketplace, is the next best thing.

There’s a lot of infrastructure to be built to make that possible, but that’s one big Bitcoin on-ramp.

Any community with internet could come in to the bitcoin economy on nostr, run it locally, kept private and invite only, and also be connected to the broader world and markets.

one issue i see for not being allowed to interact with the system if you are a bitcoiner is tax. The governments still want their pound of flesh. So how do they do this. Obviously banning it wont work / cant work so I see only two options. Allow it to interact with the system or make it illegal to own or use and put us all in jail. They will simply not allow me to swap my bitcoin for a goat , some chickens and a pair of jeans. If you think that you will be able to hide, no you wont. Even now without CBDC the tax department will investigate you if you live beyond your means.....how did you pay for that may I ask...prove it or lose it. Its gonna be a rough decade at the minimum ahead

I agree with your general sentiment, but to go from "buying a goat for BTC" to "IRS will investigate you for living beyond your means" is a big stretch. They will never have enough resources to investigate every small transaction in the economy.

yes it was a general comment but you get the idea. I guess what Im angling at is if you are not spending or earning CBDC then how the hell are you living. Replace goat with house or car. The outliers on this bell curve will be targeted and if its one at a time then its one at a time,

Yeah, if the state will go full totalitarian mode and outright ban everything except CBDCs, that will be a pain in the ass. But at that point I'd go into full guerilla mode myself, and erase any existing connections to the government.

THIS! It has be be a bottom-up approach. Just joined Damus and trying to understand how to help local merchants come to a Bitcoin economy in a country like Italy where people are crushed by the burden of the state. Where do you recommend me to start?
