Yeah I’ve looked into installing a RSO system here.
Especially since I’m probably going to install a (not paying the state taxes in building it nor yearly) well.
Have done a lot of research haven’t been able to find the spec/depth of the pump station near my house to see what the well depth was before they shut it down.
As far as I’ve can tell the aquifer my town is on top of should have plenty of water in it still according to local/fed databases.
Having a well and few solar panels will offer lots of resilience for sure. I want to switch to rainwater as my primary source because the well water I have is very hard. Would rather clean up the rainwater. As far as woo woo stuff goes, I think rainwater has better energetic properties to it as well.
I can definitely say the ground water is hard as fuck in this area.
I want to collect more rain water but I don’t want to spend the money storing it? Was thinking about doing an intergraded aquaponics system as the reservoir but it probably gets to cold to do something like that? My .25 acre lot probably isn’t big enuff n e ways? Need to do more research on it.
That's why I'm trying to measure my water usage. To find the sweet spot with storage and when rain will refill. I will always have the well as the backup. Now with Bitcoin miners, I might be able to find a way to keep the water from freezing above ground in the winter too. The rain water system is something that can be expanded slowly over time. If you can afford to drill a well it's the more sure bet for water security though.
I should have put solar up but I’m not allowed to lol. One of those miner/hot tub heaters something along those lines in guessing?
I don’t think the cost of drilling a well is that expensive as depths are shallow in my area.
I’ve actually thought about making my own well drill. I have to many crazy ideas/projects & need to prioritize what actually needs to get don vs what I want to do lol.
