I own a bit of gold. If there was a world War and the power and internet was knocked out. You would be forced to use gold, goods, and medicine for trade.
In that case you will be way more successful with canned food, alcohol, cigarettes and bullets. Gold will do shit.

Storage is a challenge and to me it's not just about value but something nice to look at. Just like jade. I have many jade figurines, all valuable. Would not sell, I like how they look. Amethyst also.
