This was the judgement on Eli and Samuel in the Bible and Saddam Hussein in the 21st century. All of there were otherwise mostly just rulers, but exempted their sons from punishment for captital crimes.

I hadn't thought about them, but interesting connection. My thoughts ran to the only thing "cooler" than that (or more dastardly or whatever), would be for Trump to get re-elected and then pardon himself!
