It streams badly for me though. And doesn't save playback position. I don't understand why no one has done a nice CLI YouTube client yet.

I find it much smoother
There is also Yattee on iOS, tvOS, macOS which is a privacy oriented video player that works with the piped api or invidious api. Didn’t configure it yet. That one might be able to save playback position
(I rather it not save my playback position than giving all my info to google 🤷🏾)
