Fun fact:

The term “meme” was coined by Richard Dawkins, a British evolutionary biologist.

He used “meme” to describe an idea, behavior, or cultural element that spreads from person to person, much like genes replicate in biology.

The word itself is a riff on the Greek “mimeme” (meaning “imitated thing”) and was shortened to rhyme with “gene.”

Dawkins lives in a bohemian-style place in north Oxford on a 210-acre estate his family’s owned since the 1720s.

Yes. It was in a book called "the Selfish Gene" written in the 70s/80s which I heartily recommend to those of us who are not experts in biology but find evolution interesting. Good writer.

Yup. Although I deny evolution.
