Do you have information on glass waste being recycled (locally) near you? I’m not asking about collection, but genuine reuse or recycling efforts. What have you seen done?

Yes glass is recycled because is expensive. He's broken in pieces, washed and melted

The result is a second quality glass with a darker color but totally usable.

What kind of facilities have you seen do this? Small scale? Large scale?

I know full recycling private facilities where they separate and prepare glass,.plastic, metals and scrap stuff to burn. Glass is then sent to a regular bottle making factory. Both are middle size. The ones I know can recycle trash from about half a million people. I know one of the owners now has 6 facilities and is trying to get some licences to open more.

BTW I am crane and logistic instructor for them sometimes.

I’m looking for local solutions - probably much smaller scale than that! That sounds right for an industrial solution. Thanks for sharing.

You can just get glass, break it in pieces. Wash it and easily melt it with an homemade furnace. Then what you do is based on other abilities but there are many artisans that could do beautiful works with that glass.

LoL, this is literally the only thing that comes to mind. PEI has some small buildings made from mostly glass bottles.

Haha awesome reference. Not sure I want to recreate that here though.

Haha yeah the only other thing I've seen is cool light fixtures, like chandeliers make from bottles. Looks nice!

Orrrr just throw it in the ocean and come back in 500 years. Sea glass business right there 🤣

Oh buddy, I have some lot of sea glass.

But I’m also impatient. Haha 🤣

Cmooon, 500 years will fly by!

Yeah, based on your daily hike photos, you probably have a bucket load 🤩

That’s pretty accurate.

I have little faith and don't give much effort into sorting. Most blue bins end at the landfill.

Have to say, waste management varies immensely from area to area. I’ve toured, and seen waste management facilities that are leaps and bounds ahead of others. And have been to pits.

Specifically to glass recycling - I’m interested in a local start up and was wondering what others are seeing/doing.

Glass makes the most sense to me.

Rest just should be burnt and captured. House hold waste that is
