Note: In the U.S., it can be legal to manufacture your own firearms in certain circumstances; however, a license is required to exchange or sell them. Do your own research.
It is NOT legal in the U.S. to construct an automatic (i.e., machine gun) like the Luty. Constructing a Luty in the U.S. is ILLEGAL unless significant modifications are made to ensure it is a legal, semi-automatic firearm. The legality may also vary depending on state and local laws.
A quote from P. A. Luty: https://thehomegunsmith.com
"My own view is that the gun not only belongs in the hands of the agents of the state (they can never be disarmed) but in the hands of the people as a whole. This is the surest way of maintaining the correct balance of power between state and citizen."
Yes, I know there are 3D-printed guns, but I also feel this knowledge is important in the event of war, a cyberattack, or anything else that could limit or prevent access to a 3D printer. A Luty may not be the best or the most accurate design, but the ability to manufacture one also doesn't depend on access to digital technology—and that makes it very relevant.
