We are strawberry snobs In this house, if they aren’t local the kids don’t touch them. So I rarely eat them as a pint is 6.99 its a treat for me.
The fact that we think of $6.99 as less expensive than $7 shows how psychologically conditioned we’ve become.
Normalize round numbers.
This is the world we live in: 
For strawberries it's the price per pint, otherwise, I go price /100g I have seen sales on smaller amounts that still don’t rival the family-sized value.
I would rather call you connoisseurs 🫶🏼 I also try to buy mainly locally (for berries in any case), for some things I make an exception
