Herbicides. They actually killed "Grass" as opposed to the crops grown. Grass would grow quicker than the crops so there was big money in stopping that shit. We also used to make pharmaceutical intermediates.

Cool. Strange things catalysts. Obviously don't take any part in the reaction but just speed things along. The town where I'm from had some of the very 1st chemical factories in the whole world😬. We also (My town) that is, produced an isotope of Uranium that was used in the first atom bomb. It wasn't U235 which was the final product so to speak, but was a precursor to that. Tube Alloys was the none descript name of the project.
