I read today that only 8% of people in El Salvador occasionally use bitcoin for the exchange of goods and services.

Kind of sounds like top-down bitcoin adoption is a fool's errand. Just a thought for some of you thirsty statists.

Was bitcoin beach started by locals or bitcoiners who flew in

Why does it matter? When impact is positive.

An outside, directed effort is a bit less bottom up/organic, though not exactly top down

probably more than anywhere else in the world though. But also 7.9% are using chivo 😹

Does that include tourists?
