If you take 'optimism' in its original definition (taken from optimized) meaning the belief the world is as good as it gets, and pessimism denoting that bad things can happen but can be avoided, the definitions are exactly reversed. Engineers find creative, innovative, and optimal solutions to problems--what we understand as optimism today--and entrepreneurs synthesize existing ideas with the resources available. Not debating. Just another way of looking at it. Cheers.
