I dunno I think the guy may be right. Its a fact that many people will remain unwilling - through laziness, or lack of self confidence / esteem - to look after their bitcoin.
If you trust the govt to inject your kids with an experimental gene therapy that can do them no possible good, then trusting coinbase with your bitcoin is no big deal at all.
They will definitley lose those coins at some point - and deserve to - but until they do at least they may get some benefit from their custodian.
It's their choice, and I think we should respect that - though it seems insane to us. But if the last 5 years has taught me anything, it's that I shouldn't concern myself with the sheep - they have the same chances as me to connect to reality and who am I to tell them what to do.
