#AskNostr does anyone have an infrared temperature thermometer so they can test this?

There's a claim that direct moonlight is COLDER than being in the moon's shadow. I've seen several videos of people testing this online and getting consistent results, but I want to see it straight from a trustworthy nostrich.

Completely insane and would open up all sorts of questions if true. (We're right around full moon now so perfect time to test.)

Heat produces infrared per surface area.

Objects in the shadow retain heat from the daylight sun, and since you're close to them the heat per area squared is much higher.

The moon is far far away, and following the inverse squared law, any infrared emitted by it's surface has been spread far and wide with your sensor only picking up a tiny fraction of the infrared.

Nights where the nights sky is clear and you see very well the moon are the coldest nights. All irradiation from earth is not reflected by the clouds making the temperature drop much bigger. I think maybe there is an assumption about seeing he moon that it is colder but actually is the clouded sky or not
